Where do you find it?

Go to HR → Reports → Absence Report.

What do you see?

At the top

  • Total absence days, compared to the same period last year.
  • Absence rate: what share of working days people were off sick.
  • Avg days per employee

Open cases: who is off sick now, since when, whether they're Fully absent or Partially recovered, and the next milestone. An overdue milestone is marked. Under Long-term cases you see absences lasting longer than 14 days. This only counts for companies in the Netherlands, since milestones only apply there.

Case duration: how many cases were Short (< 1 week), Medium (1-6 weeks) or Long (> 6 weeks).

By Employee: the 10 employees with the most absence days. A red "BF" label means a high Bradford Factor (see below).

Team Breakdown: for each team, the number of absence days per employee.

What is the Bradford Factor?

The Bradford Factor shows whether someone is often off sick for short periods. Many short absences are often harder on a team than one long one. It's calculated as: the number of absences × the number of absences × the total days of absence.

Someone who was off sick 4 times for 1 day scores 64. Someone who was off once for 10 days scores 10. From 200, an employee gets a red label.

Note: a high score is a reason to have a conversation, not a judgement. There may be a good reason behind it.
