# Viewing survey results

Learn how, as an HR admin, you view and export the results of a survey, and how Heartsome protects your colleagues' anonymity.

#### Where do you find it?
Go to HR → Surveys and click the three dots next to the survey → View results. You can also open the survey and click View results. That button appears as soon as there's a first response.

#### What do you see?
At the top:
* **Total responses**: how many people have filled in the survey.
* **Invitation completion**: how many invited colleagues have responded. Only if you sent email invitations.
* **Shared link responses**: how many responses came in via the shared link.

Below that, for each question:
* **Multiple choice questions**: a bar chart showing how often each option was chosen.
* **Rating scale and Likert scale**: how the answers are spread.
* **Open text**: all answers listed. For a non-anonymous survey you'll also see the date of each answer.
You can view the results while the survey is still active. They update with every new response.

#### Anonymity: the threshold of 3 responses
For an anonymous survey, Heartsome only shows the results once there are 3 responses. With fewer, it's often possible to guess who said what, especially in a small team.

Fewer than 3 responses and still want to look? Click View results anyway and confirm with I understand, show results. There are still no names attached, but the content may give away who filled it in.

| Tip: for a small team, consider making the survey non-anonymous, or ask the whole company to take part. That way the answers stay truly anonymous.

#### Exporting to Excel
Click Export to Excel for a file with all responses, one row per respondent.
* **For an anonymous survey**, the rows are called Response 1, Response 2, and so on.
* **For a non-anonymous survey**, each row shows the colleague's name and when they submitted the survey.

|| Note: an export of a non-anonymous survey contains names. Store and share the file with care.

#### Who has responded?
For a non-anonymous survey with email invitations, View all invitations shows who has and hasn't filled in the survey. That's also where you send reminders. See [Creating and sending a survey](https://help.heartsome.co/en/article/creating-and-sending-a-survey-105bzu/).

For an anonymous survey you only see numbers, never names.

#### Who can see the results?
Only HR admins and the account owner. Managers and other colleagues can't see the results. Want to share them with the team? Export them or share a summary.
